INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE VACANT POST OF COLLEGE LIBRARIAN

INTRODUCTION:

The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for appointment to the post of College Librarian.

DUTIES:

The College Librarian is a Principal Officer who shall be responsible to the Provost for the administration of the College Library and coordination of library services in the teaching units of the Institution.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates for the Post shall be professionally trained librarians and be of impeccable character, honest and with high moral behaviour. In addition, the Candidates should also have:
1.⁠ ⁠A good Bachelor’s Degree with Master in Library Science (MLS) from a recognized institution of higher learning with atleast 15 years cognate experience and registration with Professional Library body. Or a Ph.D. in Library and Information Sciences with atleast 12 years cognate work experience with evidence of registration with Professional Library body.
2.⁠ ⁠Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
3.⁠ ⁠Present evidence of sound human relations. Profession competence Industrial integrity, efficient management of human and material resources.
4.⁠ ⁠Must be Chief Librarian or Deputy Librarian for a period of not less than five years in a College of Education system.
5.⁠ ⁠Must not be above the age of Fifty-nine (59) at the time of taking up the appointment.
6.⁠ ⁠Candidate must show evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable Journals equivalent to that of a Chief Lecturer.

SALARY AND TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:

The salary and conditions of service for the College Librarian shall be as obtainable in the Federal College of Education system in Nigeria. The appointment shall be for a single tenure of five (5) years.

16. Names and address of three (3) Referees, one of whom must be the present Employer.

NB:​ Only shortlisted candidates shall be invited for interview.

REFEREES:

Applicants are required to inform their Referees to submit three (3) copies of Confidential Report on them to the same address as above before the closing date.

CLOSING DATE:
